Scholars & Authors on Appalachian Railroads
The following are noted individuals who have chronicled and preserved the history of the Charleston Cincinnati & Chicago, the Clinchfield, Southern Railway, ET&WNC, Louisville & Nashville, Norfolk & Western, Interstate, and other Central Appalachian Railroads.
Without their passion and dedication, much of our collective knowledge of the railroads and the region would not exist.
Noted Individuals
James A Goforth: Clinchfield Veteran for 30+ years, Clinchfield Chief Engineer, Historian for Clinchfield and the 3Cs, Historian for Erwin, Author, Engineer for City of Johnson City.
Ron Flanary: Well-known railroad industry Expert and Historian, Author of books and many magazine articles, and exemplary photographer.
Scott Jessee: 36 Year Veteran of the Clinchfield and CSX Railroads, Railroad Expert, 3Cs and Clinchfield Historian, Frequent Contributor to the Jitterbug magazine.
C.K. Marsh, Jr: Clinchfield, 3Cs, and Kingsport Historian, Author, Retired Executive in the Transportation and Chemical Industry, Kingsport Civic Leader.
Calvin Sneed: A noted bridge and tunnel expert who has authored two books on bridges across America. As a vocation, Calvin spent 50+ years as television reporter and anchor. He is now retired and devoting full time to bridge hunting.
