Rails to Trails – Appalachian Mountains
From Alabama north to Pennsylvania, the Appalachians provide some of the most scenic rails to trails in America. Several of the trails are in the national Rails to Trails Hall of Fame, including:
- Great Allegheny Passage in Maryland and Pennsylvania
- Greenbier River Trail in West Virginia
- Silver Comet and Chief Ladiga Trails in Georgia and Alabama
- Virginia Creeper Trail in Virginia
Other notable trails include:
- Blue Ridge Tunnel Trail in Virginia
- Mendota Trail in Virginia
- New River Trail State Park in Virginia
- Tweetsie Trail in Tennessee
